Specialty Programs

Speciality programs are yet another option which usually operate during the summer months, but not exclusively.  Speciality programs will include many of the features of the short term or summer programs, but will have a targeted focus, such as a “Leadership Camp” or “Sports Camp.”  In some of these programs local Canadian students may be part of the program as well in order to encourage cross-cultural connections. Students in speciality programs may live in Homestay or be accommodated in a large residence such as that of a university or college.

In addition, some school districts offer speciality intensive language programs prior to the beginning of a school semester or even throughout the school year on a “continuous intake” basis; these programs tend to focus on the development of language proficiency and help to prepare students for successful  integration into an Ontario secondary school.  Again, not all school districts offer speciality programs, it is best to explore the information on the websites of specific school districts.
