Summer programs are very flexible and vary greatly. Generally, summer programs are characterized by a combination of language learning with social, cultural and athletic activities over the course of several weeks. Often these programs can be “tailor-made” and may be attended by groups or by individual students. Homestay is often the preferred type of accommodation since it enables the students to live with a Canadian family, but also accommodation in a university residence or a hotel are options.
For some students the summer programs enable the students to make a decision about deciding to register for a long term program offered by a particular school district. Some school districts offer summer programs and others do not, so it is best to consult the website of a specific Ontario school district.
